Why this exists

Residential concrete has an information problem. The homeowner needs to choose between leveling, repair, resurfacing and replacement — four options with very different costs — and almost everybody they can ask specialises in one of them.

That is not dishonesty. A leveling specialist genuinely believes in lifting, and is usually right about the jobs they see. But it means the homeowner rarely gets a comparison, and the option they end up with often reflects who they happened to call first.

This site tries to give homeowners the comparison before the phone call: what each option assumes about the problem, what rules each one out, and the specific questions that reveal whether a contractor is diagnosing or selling.

What we are not

• Not a concrete contractor. We do not perform concrete work of any kind.
• Not a trade association or a certification body. We publish a vetting standard for homeowners to use. We do not administer it, assess anybody against it, or issue anything.
• Not a government agency and not affiliated with one.
• Not a ranked directory. We publish no “best contractor” lists, no ratings and no reviews, because we have not inspected anybody and a ranking we could not justify would be worse than none.
• Not a quote-resale operation. We do not sell homeowner details to a call list.

How this is paid for

In our launch markets we intend to work with a small number of independent contractors who hold a service category within a metro, and to pass homeowner requests to them. Contractors pay for that arrangement; homeowners never pay us anything.

We say “intend” deliberately. At the time of writing, contractor arrangements are still being established, and no territory currently has an assigned contractor. That is why every request goes to a person, and why the site does not tell anybody a contractor is standing by.

Being matched through this site is not an endorsement. Independent contractors make their own commitments, and we have not inspected their work. The vetting standard exists because you should evaluate anybody you hire, including anybody we introduce.

How we write about cost

We do not publish national price figures. Averages assembled across wildly different jobs in wildly different places lose every variable that determined the price, and homeowners then use them as a benchmark that is wrong for their job in an unknown direction.

Instead we explain what contractors are actually pricing and which line items vary most, so you can read a quote and ask the questions that make two quotes comparable. Local quotes decide actual pricing. Nothing else does.

How we write about facts

We do not invent statistics, studies, code requirements or technical specifications. Where something varies by jurisdiction — licensing, permits, sidewalk responsibility, trip-hazard thresholds — we say it varies and point you at the body that can actually tell you, rather than guessing a number that sounds authoritative.

On our market and city pages, local context is kept to well-established, qualified description. Where a claim would need a dataset we have not verified, we qualify it or leave it out.

Where we operate

The guidance and both decision tools work anywhere. Contractor matching currently covers Indianapolis, Columbus, Nashville, Kansas City, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Louisville, Charlotte, Raleigh–Durham and Birmingham. We would rather cover three metros properly than claim national coverage we do not have.
